"Get Online Week" and training activities at Izmir University, Turkey

The project Generation 0101 in which six countries participates including Izmir University is funded by Erasmus +. The objective of this Project is to teach Young people in seven different areas towards preparing projects for NGO’s . Upon successful completion of these course, student will participate in a project marathon in 6 different countries together with other youth.

Every year in March, Telecenter-Europe organizes European “Get Online Week” in which Izmir University takes part and organizes activities and trainings for youth. As the aim of project is to develop IT skills for the youth, two of seven of the modules are covered and started this week: Web Radio and Android.  Students from İzmir University Kutay İnceler, Esra Cambaz, Doğan Arıkan, Sıla Deveci ve Aslıhan Özmen went to training for trainers in Croatia which is organized within Generation 0101 project and they are going to teach youth about 7 different modules.

Moreover, during the Get Online Week Izmir University organized a panel about e-skills. It was pleasure to welcome Cengiz Ultav (Director of Turkish Technology Development Organization), Onur Koç (Ass. Director of Microsoft Turkey), Alpaslan Özlü (Veripark Chairman), Onur Leblebici (Yazılım Ar-Ge ve Platform Mimarisi Grup Director, Univera) and Prof.Dr.Emrah Orhun (Generation 0101 Project Izmir University coordinator) to Izmir University seminer “E-skills for everyone” where they shared their views on education and employment requirements required for the digital world.

After courses provided by Generation 0101 project, the students which developed ideas for NGO’s are going to give results and present their work. This will be also helpful as they are going to have direct life experience with real projects and will have an opportunity to help their community.
